How to check whether a document can be saved
A public page does not automatically grant permission to copy, save, or redistribute the material on it. Treat the source page and its licence as the authority.
A practical checklist
- 1. Look for an explicit licence such as Creative Commons or public-domain statement.
- 2. Read the host platform’s download and offline-reading rules.
- 3. If the page has no licence or download option, request permission from the rightsholder.
- 4. Keep a record of the permission or licence next to your saved research.
